Camping And RV Parks Directory
I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase an RV Parks GPS points of interest (POI) file for my Garmin Nuvi. I do a lot of camping and wanted an easier way to navigate to the various RV campgrounds. I’d tried several of the “free” lists around the internet, but was never satisfied. They were either too incomplete, or inaccurate at best. In addition to that, they were very difficult to install. They almost never worked without manipulation.
I did my homework and decided to buy the Ultimate RV Parks & Campgrounds list from CoolRVToyz.com. They’re full-timers that developed a list for their own use, then decided to start a website. After using it for 2 months now I’ve got to say I’m very happy. Finally, a COMPLETE list that actually works. It doesn’t have every park (yet), but it is the biggest available. It’s got more than 50,000 entries about half of which are campgrounds. The other half are various RV services like dealers, supplies, service centers, Camping World stores, truck stops, etc. The CoolRVToyz folks update it often and it just keep getting better. That’s one of the reasons I decided on this list was the first year of online updates is free.
I’m looking forward to using it again over the 4th of July holiday. It is really nice to drive straight to a campground you’ve never been to before and arrive where you expect to.
